Hike to Findeln
From the Winkelmatten Chapel to Findeln: Hiking and Enjoying the Scenery
The Path
From Haus Vira, walk to the nearby Winkelmatten Chapel. From there, follow the well-marked trail toward Findeln. Findeln is a small hamlet above Zermatt, known for its excellent mountain restaurants and offering unforgettable views. After your meal, you can either walk down to Zermatt or take the Sunnegga cable car to the village and from there return to Haus Vira.
What to Expect on Your Trip
The picturesque Winkelmatten Chapel, the gourmet restaurants in Findeln, and a panoramic view of the Matterhorn and Zermatt make this route one of the most popular in the area.
Duration and Difficulty
Allow about 1.5 hours to reach Findeln (one way), depending on the route you choose and your pace. The route is easy to moderate, with a gentle climb to Findeln.
Stopping for a Break Along the Way
In Findeln, you can choose from several well-known restaurants: Restaurant Findlerhof, Enzian, Chez Vrony, Paradis, and Adler.
